Google Fi is a GO!

So, my Google Fi SIM card arrived and it is safely tucked into my Nexus 6. Set up was simple and straightforward but I have a fair amount of testing to do over the next couple of weeks, including a trip to Europe, to see if the roaming is as transparent as advertised. To me …

Romoss Battery Pack Review

You know you are playing too much Words with Friends when you actually start to click on the ads. Embarrassing I know, but confession is good for the soul, or so I have heard. Where was I? Oh, yes. I had been on the look out for a large external battery as I had an …

CES 2015

Hmm…here it is the beginning of February and I am just now getting around to posting about CES. All I can say is that I spent 4 days at home the whole month of January and I spent those days in bed with the worst cold I have ever had. But those are just excuses…sooo….here …

T-mobile Says Text Away

You can’t text while you drive, but you can while you fly. At least, if you are a T Mobile customer you can. T-Mobile continues to zig while every one else is zagging. In the last two years they have shifted away from contracts and introduced phone financing rather than contract underwriting of phones. The …

Republic Gets Moto X

When I looked at Republic Wireless’ service this summer I liked the value but I was a bit hesitant about the phone. I mean the Motorola Defy was not going to be lust worthy by many people’s standards, and it had no 4G support so it had its limitations. Republic has changed that recently with …

Yawn

Apple had their big event yesterday and rolled out basically what we expected…and a little less. A rebranded iPhone5. An iPhone5S with a slamming processor, fingerprint sensor and a better camera. I don’t think that most people will be able to tell the difference because last year’s iPhone was already more powerful than a Mac …

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad mini Review

Unfortunately, there are too many compromises with this keyboard. There is no way to attach the keyboard to the back of the iPad. The lack of a way to hold the cover closed, the general plastic construction and the tab key being on the second layer of the keyboard mean that there are better choices out there.

Microsoft Buys Nokia

The last time Microsoft bought a phone company, it didn’t go so well. The took the preciously hip Danger and turned it into something that nobody wanted. Quite a coup, wouldn’t you say?
