STM Cable Wrap Review

I carry far too much crap around. It is a kind of boy scout gone mad mentality that has me thinking, “Someone will be grateful that I have a spare 30 pin sync cable.”

Yeah, right.

Twice a year I dive into that bag of crap, spend 10 minutes untangling stuff and they drift off in boredom before I am done. Sort of an allegory of my whole life.

When I was at the Travel Goods Show I met with the crew from STM and while the product guy was showing me around his backpack one of these fell out.

It was a 10 by 23 inch piece of canvas organizational nirvana. Subdivided into little pockets of mesh and opaque poly and able to roll up around itself like a snake on a warm rock.

I tried to feign mild curiosity.

“What is that?”

I don’t think he heard the tremor in my voice. He unrolled the Cable Wrap, showed me all the pockets and wrapped it up back up and put it back in his bag.

He played me like an expert angler. Just as I was about to leave the booth at the end of the appointment he pulled one out of a cabinet and handed it to me.

“Let me know what you think.”

I think I wish I had found one of these a long time ago.

The far right features a zippered mesh pocket that runs the full height of the Wrap. The middle of the bag has 3 large pockets with elastic sleeves and 3 small ones. Finally, on the far left are two mesh pockets that open toward the inside of the bag.

Being able to tuck cables in their own little slots keeps things neat and clean. Because of the way the pockets are laid out, everything is securely held in place when you roll the Cable Wrap up. A little warrior buckle on the end of a tie keeps everything tightly in place.

I didn’t put a pile of stuff in the Cable Wrap because I didn’t want it to be too bulky, but it made for a nice package for all of this.

From the top left: micro USB, Lightning to 30 pin adapter, iPad charger, iPhone charger, Lightning SD card reader, HDMI cable, row of USB cables, Sennheiser ear buds, USB cable and earplugs

Roll it up and drop it in your bag and go. Just what I always wanted! Add in STM’s Limited Lifetime Warranty and the Cable Wrap makes for a great little package.
