New From Tom Bihn – The Cadet

The Cadet was announced today by Tom Bihn. It is a micro briefcase made from 1050 ballistic nylon with Bihn’s characteristic attention to detail. Even as a micro it still comes in with 825 cubic inches of storage and plenty of pockets and organization.

The Cadet comes in versions for a 13-15 inch laptop or a smaller version aimed at the iPad. The Cadet is a very Apple focused product even though you could use it with a host of products.

With just the right amount of room for a laptop, power supply and important accessories, the Cadet allows you to carry all you need in style. It is designed to be TSA friendly and is lined with Dyneema ripstop nylon to keep this bag as strong and light as possible. The laptop version with a 13 inch Cadet Cache in place still comes in at a svelte 2 pounds.

Bihn’s computer protection approach with this bag is sort of a scaled-down version of their Brain Cell product. They have a clever way to mount a version of their Cache product to protect your laptop or iPad inside of the Cadet with what Bihn calls “Gatekeeper” clips. This allows the laptop or iPad to be removed quickly at a security check point without tearing your bag apart.

YKK zippers (#10 for the mains, #8 for the balance) are on splash proof Uretech runners to keep the insides of the bag safe and dry…even if you are not!

Available in a range of colors and shipping mid-November for the laptop version and end of November for the iPad version.
