So, my Google Fi SIM card arrived and it is safely tucked into my Nexus 6.
Set up was simple and straightforward but I have a fair amount of testing to do over the next couple of weeks, including a trip to Europe, to see if the roaming is as transparent as advertised. To me the most innovative feature here is the refund for unused data, which is perfect for me as I am using this as a secondary phone for travel abroad.
I have previously used T Mobile service while abroad with great (if somewhat slow) results so I don’t expect any difficulty.
I am still playing with hangouts integration and finding out what features are really left behind from Google Voice, but I will post a more in-depth article after I return from Amsterdam in September.
Take a gander here to see if you qualify for Google Fu…I mean Fi.
