About a month ago you may have seen me post this picture…
Today I have a new one to post:
In about 20 years of carting mobile gadgets around I have never trashed one…until recently. In the last 45 days, I have spider webbed the glass on my iPhone and my iPad and the experiences were very different.
I had AppleCare on the phone, so $49 poorer I walked out of the Apple store with a brand new replacement for a phone I bought from Sprint. I can deal with that.
On the iPad…I would have sworn that I bought AppleCare…but I did not. Facepalm!
So…iPad slides out of the embrace of its case into the much crueller embrace of the driveway.
Apple actually handles this with good grace and a fair amount of compassion. There is a $300 flat charge for a replacement unit. I did opt for AppleCare this time and they applied a $50 discount for this so the total bill for a new iPad was $348 plus tax.
“Stupid tax hurts the mostest,” to quote a friend of mine.
So, the most important accessories for your iPad are a good case:
…and AppleCare.
At least if I drop it again it will only cost me $49 this time.
