An Open Letter of Apology

After 8 days trundling through the towns and cities in Germany and England, I have come to a conclusion. I owe all of my European friends a heartfelt apology.

I mean, think of the things that Europe has given to the world: pungent cheeses, ancient churches, museums full of antiquities, cappucino and slow sunday afternoons lingering over a pastry in a street cafe with friends.

The most obvious things we have given to them are McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Subway and David Hasselhof. It is actually kind of embarrassing to walk down a London street and see more American fast food brands than bistros and cafes.

So to my friends on that side of the pond, please accept my sincerest apologies for this American export.

OK, so here’s my deal: if you will promise to quit sending over Mentos commercials we will make sure that Hardee’s never makes it across the Atlantic!
